Grant, Max and Murray at a lookout over the Endeavour River, dust and mud on every inch of their gear

1000 miles to the Tip

This one isn’t a Povo Racing round. It’s a separate trip, but it belongs on this site anyway: eighteen riders — fifteen of us, plus three other riders — and three guides, and eleven days riding the Creb Track, Frenchmans, Starkies and the Old Telegraph Track from Cairns to Pajinka — the northernmost point of mainland Australia.

Max and Murray both rode. So did mates from Australia, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, guided by Top End Moto Tours. It started with a bike going under on the very first creek crossing, and ended with mud-covered arms in the air at the Tip eleven days later. In between: red dirt and jungle single-track, a proper mid-trip medical evacuation, and the Lions Den Hotel.

It was too big for a paragraph in the usual round-up, so it gets its own page instead.
